High mass species at elevated collisional energies require high gas pressures for full thermalisation of the ions before they enter the TOF region of the instrument. The standard setup does not allow for such pressures. By replacing the collision gas reducer, solenoid and capillary and reducing the apertures on the collision cell entrance and exit the pressure can be increased to the levels required for full thermalisation without compromising the analyser pressure and quadrupole performance. Further enhancements are direct monitoring of the pressure inside the collision cell and increased collisional energy up to 400V.
